What Size Do You Need?
Estate cleanouts run larger than people expect. A lifetime of belongings in a modest three-bedroom fills more container than a kitchen remodel does.
Clearing Part of a Home
A few rooms, a garage, or a basement — not the whole property. The 15 yard usually covers it, and it fits in any standard driveway.
Clearing a Whole House
The 20 yard is what we deliver most often for full estate cleanouts. Same 12-foot footprint as the smaller containers, so access is rarely an issue.
Large Homes or Hoarding
A large property, or a house that has not been cleared in thirty years. One 30 yard almost always costs less than swapping a 20 yard twice.

Do This First
Check These Before You Throw Anything Out
The most common regret in an estate cleanout is not renting the wrong size. It is throwing away something that mattered.
- Cash and envelopes tucked into books. Go through bookshelves page-side down and give each book a shake. Also check coat pockets, under mattresses, and the backs of dresser drawers.
- Financial and legal documents. Savings bonds, stock certificates, insurance policies, deeds, vehicle titles, and tax records. Set aside anything you are unsure about and let the estate’s attorney or accountant sort it.
- Photographs, negatives, and slides. Once these are gone they are gone. Box them all now and sort later — this is not a decision to make on a deadline.
- Jewelry mixed in with costume pieces. Real jewelry is frequently stored in the same box as the rest. Have it looked at before anything gets tossed.
- Prescription medication. Do not put it in the dumpster and do not flush it. Most Kansas City area pharmacies and police departments run drug take-back drop-offs.
- Firearms and ammunition. Never place these in a dumpster. Contact local law enforcement for guidance on safe transfer or disposal.
- Anything with a serial number. Tools, instruments, and equipment are often worth more than they look. A quick search before it goes in the container costs nothing.
A practical rhythm that works: one room at a time, four piles — keep, donate, sell, toss — and leave the most sentimental room for last. Starting there stalls the whole project.
